Braxton Mondell

Braxton Mondell started a company that helped timeshare owners turn their unused points into income on short-term rental platforms. In its first year he personally managed more than 800 reservations. He then went to USF for business.

He joined on day one.

When Obada started Checkmate Financial Group, Braxton left his own company to join as a founding agent on day one, one of the four people selling life insurance out of Obada’s house before there was an office. He showed up with no formal sales experience. Selling vacation stays is different from selling life insurance, and the early years on the phones were hard. He stayed with it until consistent sales became routine.

His role grew beyond sales.

Obada had watched the work ethic up close. He also recognized the technical ability and the business mindset that built the first company, and he started handing Braxton responsibility beyond the phones. The responsibilities kept growing until the job had a new shape entirely: full time on the direction and day-to-day operations of the company.

He builds the machine.

Braxton runs the part of the agency nobody sees and everybody feels. He builds and maintains the systems that let agents walk in and do what they do best, sell at a high level, without ever fighting their own tools. He drives growth and helps guide the direction of the company. Since those living-room days, Checkmate has grown from four people to more than 1,000 agents. He credits Obada for the foundation, and Obada points to Braxton as one of the few people whose dedication matches his own.

Accountable for security.

Braxton is also the executive accountable for security at Checkmate Financial Group. He owns security for the agent portal and the systems behind it, including access control, key and secret management, vendor and infrastructure risk, and incident response, and he reports on it directly to the CEO.
